FEMALUMA was born from over a decade of collecting, curiosity and a deep relationship with art.

Founded by Pedro Nazar and his wife, Carolina, the gallery began in Cascais, Portugal, and later expanded to Rio de Janeiro, creating a natural bridge between Europe and Brazil. This connection between the two countries remains at the heart of FEMALUMA’s identity.

The gallery first opened in the historic center of Cascais, facing the bay, in the former Vidraceiro Building, once home to a Portuguese glass factory. What began as an intimate space has since evolved into a larger project, with FEMALUMA establishing its new home at the Marina de Cascais, in one of Portugal’s most sought-after coastal destinations and a meeting point for an international community.

In 2026, FEMALUMA opened its Rio de Janeiro location in Horto, a historic area within the Jardim Botânico neighborhood, beside the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden. Surrounded by nature and deeply connected to the cultural history of the city, the Horto space marks a new chapter for the gallery in Brazil, creating a distinctive setting for exhibitions, conversations and encounters.

With a strong focus on the primary market, FEMALUMA works closely with emerging and established artists, supporting their research and developing their work through exhibitions, art fairs, publications and relationships with collectors, curators and institutions.

Alongside its primary program, FEMALUMA is active in the secondary market, sourcing and placing significant works for private collections while connecting collectors with opportunities internationally.

Rather than defining its program by geography, generation or a single artistic language, FEMALUMA is interested in the dialogues that emerge between different periods, cultures and perspectives.

With spaces in Cascais and Rio de Janeiro, FEMALUMA operates between two continents, fostering a continuous exchange between artists, collectors, curators and institutions in Brazil, Portugal and beyond.
